Fjord amoung New High-Quality Free Fonts (2012 Edition) selected by Smashing Magazine

Mój Fjord znalazł się w dwudziestce darmowych krojów wysokiej jakości polecanej przez Smashing Magazine. Co prawda to od nich dowiedziałam się o grece i cyrylice zawartych we Fjordzie, w każdym razie to dobra przepowiednia.

Smashing Magazine selected 20 fresh free high-quality fonts. And Fjord is amoung them. I never heard before about Greek and Cyrillic scripts contained in Fjord, but it is a good prediction :D

The Lapikon book

Książka Lapikon jest jednym z wyników warsztatów Ala ma font(a). Znalazło się w niej 20 krojów zaprojektowanych podczas warsztatów i artykuły prowadzących: Martina Majoora, Ebena Sorkina, Ann Bessemans, Filipa Blažka i Mariana Misiaka. No i Fjord też się tam znalazł. Książka jest dostępna on-line! Fizyczne egzemplarze można będzie dostać na otwarciu wystawy Lapikon 11 stycznia 2012 r. o 17.30 w holu głównym Wydziału Grafiki ASP w Katowicach, na Koszarowej 19. 

The Lapikon book is one of results of Ala ma font(a) workshop. There are 20 typefaces designed during the workshop and articles written by teachers: Martin Majoor, Eben Sorkin, Ann Bessemans, Filip Blažek and Marian Misiak. There is also my Fjord in there. The book is available on-line. Enjoy! The real book will be available on the opening of exhibition Lapikon on 11th 2012; 5.30 pm at the main hall of the Dep. of Graphic Design building, Academy od Fine Arts, Koszarowa 19. Katowice

"Need for water" poster will be a part of collection of Art Museum Cottbus

Mój plakat Need for Water trafi do kolekcji Art Museum Cottbus a także będzie częścią międzynarodowej wystawy plakatu poświęconej środowisku ES GEHT UM DIE WELT Internationale Plakate zu Natur und Umwelt, która będzie trwała od 5 lutego do 4 kwietnia 2012 w tymże muzeum.

My poster "Need for water" will be a part of international poster exhibition dedicated to environment ES GEHT UM DIE WELT Internationale Plakate zu Natur und Umweltwhich. The exhibition will take place in Art Museum Cottbus from February 5th to April 4th 2012. The poster will be also added to the museum's collection.

Fjord & Passero selected for Agrafa exhibition

Dwa moje kroje Fjord i Passero będą wystawione na tegorocznej Agrafie w katowickim Rondzie Sztuki. Otwarcie wystawy 12.01.2010 o 19.00.

My typefaces Fjord & Passero will be a part of The International Biennial of Students’ Graphic Design Agrafa exhibition in Rondo Sztuki Gallery in Katowice. The opening will take place on The January 12, 2012, 7 pm.

Fjord will be a part of Ala ma font(a) exhibition

Fjord będzie częścią wystawy podsumowującej półroczne warsztaty projektowania krojów pism dla dzieci Ala ma font(a), prowadzonych przez Martina Majoora, Ebena Sorkina, Filipa Blažka, Ann Bessemans i Mariana Misiaka. 

Wystawa będzie towarzyszyła tegorocznej Agrafie i konferecji Badania naukowe w projektowaniu graficznym. Projektowanie graficzne w badaniach naukowych. Otwarcie wystawy 11 stycznia 2012 o 17.30 na ASP w Katowicach. Na wystawie będzie 15 krojów zaprojektowanych przez uczestników warsztatów. Częscią wystawy będzie publikacja Lapikon z artykułami prowadzących i krojami uczestników.

Projekt Ala ma font(a) był dla mnie świetnym doświadczeniem i okazją do rozwinięcia mojego kroju (które będzie początkiem większego rozwinięcia:) Jestem pod dużym wrażeniem warsztatów i chciałabym podziękować prowadzącym za ich wsparcie, doświadczenie i przede wszystkim pozytywno-progresywną energię, a także Ewie Sataleckiej i Zosi Oslislo za świetną organizację.

My typeface Fjord will be a part of the  Ala ma font(a) final exhibition of the workshop result.

Opening of the Ala ma font(a) final exhibition of the workshop result  – Martin Majoor, Anne Bessemans, Filip Blazek, Eben Sorkin (on skype), Marian Misiak and the group of workshop’s participants will take place on 11th of January 2012 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice during III rd International Design Conference Agrafa. There will be a publication "Lapikon" accompaining the exhibition containing texts written by teachers and 15 examples of students typefaces created during the workshop.

I’m very impressed by the Ala na font(a) project. It was a great opportunity to develop my typeface (which is a start of greater development:) I would like to thank teachers for their great support and knowledge and to Ewa Satalecka and Zosia Oslislo for great organizing work. 

Fjord is available at Google Web Fonts!

The regular weight of Fjord is available at Google Web Fonts under a name Fjord One for free. 

Fjord is a text serif typeface, designed with book publications in mind. It is intended to setting long texts in small print size. Prominent serifs, low-contrast modulation and the proportions improves the typeface’s readability in small sizes. But through the original construction and carefully designed details Fjord also becomes distinctive in bigger sizes. The typeface was start under a name Young as a graduation project at Sign and Typography Studio at Academy of  Fine Arts in Poznań (supervisor: Krzysztof Kochnowicz). It was awarded at Central European Review of Design Graduation Projects.

The regular weight was revised and work on Italic and Bold finally started! 

* Young was renamed and will be available under a new name Fjord.

Passero One published by Google and available for free download

Z radością informuję że mój krój pisma Passero One został opublikowany przez Google. Można pobrać font za darmo na Google Web Fonts, zainstalować na komputerze albo używać w postaci webfonta. Passero One jest krojem displayowym najlepiej sprawdzi się w dużym punkcie. Rozwój kroju został wsparty przez Google. 

Passero jest nową, zaktualizowaną i przerysowaną od początku wersją kroju Jackson, który zaprojektowałam w czasie studiów  w Pracowni Typografii i Znaku na ASP w Poznaniu pod okiem prof. Krzysztofa Kochnowicza i as. Wojtka Janickiego w 2008 roku . Chciałabym wrócić do tematu za jakiś czas i napisać więcej o Jacksonie i Passero. Podziękowania dla Ebena Sorkina za jego pomoc i zaangażowanie.

I’m pleased to announce that my typeface Passero One is published by Google. You can download the font for free from Google Web Fonts and install it on your computer or use it as webfont on your webpages as well. Passero One will work best in large display sizes. The development of Passero One was supported by Google. 

Passero is new, revised and completely redrawn version of Jackson, the typeface I designed in 2008 as a student of Sign and Typography Studio at Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. The project was supervised by prof. Krzysztof Kochnowicz and as. Wojtek Janicki. Some day I would like to write more about Jackson and Passero. I would like to thank Eben Sorkin for his engagement and help.
